he Goma Christian Assembly held a deeply moving and spiritually rich service on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Brother Jonathan, who delivered the sermon of the day, addressed the congregation with a profound message calling believers to wisdom, sanctification, and a return to the Word of God as the only true refuge in a world filled with spiritual traps.
“A Christian Does Not Live by Chance”: A Call to Wisdom
Brother Jonathan opened his sermon with a striking question:
“How can you be scammed several times? Are you not wise?”
Drawing from the teachings of Prophet William Marrion Branham, he reminded the believers that Christians must abstain from any form of gambling, as such practices lead to greed, deception, and spiritual vulnerability.
The Modern Craftiness of Spirits: “Demons Have Civilized Things”
The preacher explained that, in ancient times, evil spirits pushed people toward worshiping physical statues and visible idols.
“Today, they have civilized it,” he said.
According to him, these same spirits now operate through ideologies, false interpretations, and behaviors that take the place of God in people’s hearts such as greed, adultery, or the obsessive pursuit of material possessions.
He warned that even theft has become “civilized,” shifting from physical robberies to phone hacking, online fraud, and digital scams.
Social Networks: A Tool or a Trap?
Brother Jonathan clarified that technology itself is not the problem:
“The internet, Facebook, X, Instagram they are not evil; it is the spirit behind them,” he explained.
While these platforms can be used for evangelism, they can also become sources of comparison, pride, impurity, and spiritual distraction.
He urged the sisters to avoid revealing TikTok videos that expose their bodies and encouraged the brothers to maintain spiritual order and discipline within their homes.
A Call for Order in Families
The preacher placed strong emphasis on spiritual and family authority. He warned men against becoming “spineless fathers” who fail to lead their households, and encouraged women to respect the leadership of their husbands:
“Before going to your associations, ask your husbands for permission.”
He also warned families against misappropriating household funds, stressing that such acts open doors to conflict and public shame.
God Blesses and Uplifts: The Christian Must Persevere
Turning to divine blessing, Brother Jonathan reminded the congregation:
“God enriches. He gives promotions.”
But the key, he said, is fully surrendering to Christ.
He invoked the biblical story of Jacob wrestling with the angel, insisting that Christians must persevere in prayer until their blessing comes:
“A Christian is not greedy; he stays on his knees, pleading his case before God.”
Quoting Brother Branham’s message “Why Cry? Speak!”, he said believers have been given “a blank cheque” according to John 14, yet many still live far below the promises God has made for them.
Against Comparison, Jealousy, and Mockery
Reading from 1 Timothy 6:5-6, Brother Jonathan urged believers to avoid unnecessary comparisons:
“Everyone must live according to their level; the stars in the sky do not shine with the same brightness.”
He also cautioned the Church against mocking other people’s marriages:
“How can you mock what God has joined together? You risk being struck by God.”
Jealousy, he noted, often grows from comparison and leads to spiritual downfall.
Returning to the Word as the Only Security
Brother Jonathan concluded by reminding the congregation that the world is full of traps, but the only true safety is found in the Word of God.
Those who hold fast to it, he said, will receive the wisdom, discernment, and strength needed to overcome the modern strategies of the enemy.
The service ended in an atmosphere of deep reflection, repentance, and renewed determination to live a strong, authentic Christian life.
