DRC: 50 km of Asphalt Roads for Beni and Butembo
The province of North Kivu is set to benefit from 50 kilometers of asphalt roads as part of a government project aimed at improving urban infrastructure and mobility.
The first phase, covering 25 kilometers of roads in Beni, was officially launched on Friday, October 2, 2026, by the military governor of North Kivu, Major General Somo Kakule Evariste.
The remaining 25 kilometers will be constructed in the city of Butembo, bringing the total length of roads covered by the project to 50 kilometers.
According to the information provided, the project is part of the vision of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, under the leadership of the Minister of State in charge of Infrastructure and Public Works, John Banza Lunda.
The works will be carried out by JF-Business, a company presented as having modern construction equipment and machinery. The project will be financed by the Central Government.
The initiative is expected to improve road conditions, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and support economic activity in Beni and Butembo.
The launch comes as improving infrastructure remains a major priority for communities in North Kivu, where poor road conditions have long affected mobility and local development.
