The Provincial Government of Kasaï Central has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating HIV/AIDS by 2030.
This commitment was expressed on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, during the celebration of World AIDS Day, in a ceremony presided over by the Provincial Minister of Health, Rose Kamueka, on behalf of Governor Joseph-Moise Kambulu Nkonko, at the Liliane Mapalay Hall.

Held under the national theme: “A response for a Democratic Republic of Congo without AIDS by 2030,” the event brought together various segments of the population, technical partners, and members of civil society.
In his remarks, Jean-Carret Manshimba, Provincial Executive Secretary of the National Multisectoral AIDS Control Program (PNMLS), presented a concerning overview of the pandemic in the province. He called for synergy among all stakeholders to achieve the goal of an AIDS-free DRC.
Minister Rose Kamueka, aware of the magnitude of the challenge, called for collective mobilization. She announced the implementation of concrete measures aimed at intensifying the fight in the province, particularly through voluntary testing, awareness campaigns, and support for people living with HIV.
Touching testimonies from individuals living with HIV marked the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of adherence to antiretroviral treatment and knowing one’s HIV status.
“Our Government is committed to taking all necessary measures to ensure full ownership of the fight,” concluded the Provincial Minister of Health.
