Museveni Launches Kampala Storage Terminal in Mpigi
Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kampala Storage Terminal (KST) in Namwabula, Mpigi District.

The major petroleum infrastructure project is expected to significantly strengthen Uganda’s fuel storage capacity and improve the country’s petroleum products supply chain.
Kampala Storage Terminal to Hold 320 Million Litres
The Kampala Storage Terminal will have the capacity to store up to 320 million litres of petroleum products, providing Uganda with additional strategic storage capacity.
The facility is expected to contribute to improved fuel supply security and strengthen the country’s ability to manage the storage and distribution of petroleum products.
UNOC to Own and Operate the Facility
The terminal will be wholly owned and operated by the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), making it an important addition to Uganda’s petroleum value chain.
The project reinforces UNOC’s role in developing and managing strategic petroleum infrastructure while supporting the country’s broader efforts to strengthen its energy security.
A Strategic Investment in Uganda’s Petroleum Sector
The groundbreaking marks another step in Uganda’s development of petroleum-related infrastructure. Once operational, the Kampala Storage Terminal is expected to play a key role in the storage and supply of petroleum products across the country.
With a planned capacity of 320 million litres, the facility is set to become a significant component of Uganda’s petroleum supply infrastructure and contribute to greater resilience in fuel storage and distribution.
