A disorderly march held this weekend in the streets of Kananga has exposed a troubling political maneuver within the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS).

According to multiple reliable sources, a group of young people claiming affiliation with the ruling party was mobilized without any official note or directive from party leadership to support the ambitions of a local politician seeking the position of vice-president ahead of the party’s upcoming congress scheduled for December 10.

Reportedly motivated by financial promises, these youths described by some party members as “rebels”—caused disturbances across several neighborhoods, disrupting public order with no supervision or prior authorization.

One of the most striking elements of the incident is the total absence of UDPS Kananga federal committee members, raising questions about the authenticity and legitimacy of the initiative.
This behavior not only highlights the instrumentalization of the youth for purely electoral interests, but also shows a blatant disregard for internal democratic procedures.

Several voices are already condemning this chaotic politicization, calling for a renewed commitment to the party’s values of discipline, respect for established structures, and strategic coherence in order to safeguard unity and preserve the party’s image in the province.
