The Pentecostal Church Light of the World (EPLM) held a solemn thanksgiving service on January 4, 2026, at the Esplanade of the People’s Palace in Kinshasa, following the signing of the strategic agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the United States.

A Nationwide Spiritual Gathering
This large-scale spiritual event brought together approximately 135,000 worshippers from 48 churches, highlighting an exceptional level of mobilization. According to EPLM leaders, the service followed prayers and a prophetic declaration made in August 2025, which they believe have now been fulfilled through the conclusion of this bilateral agreement.
Prayers for Peace, Stability, and National Prosperity
In an atmosphere of deep worship and gratitude, participants offered prayers for peace, national stability, sovereignty, and the sustainable development of the DRC. Church leaders emphasized the importance of acknowledging divine guidance in the country’s diplomatic and political progress, while calling for leadership rooted in strong moral and spiritual values.
Celebration of Holy Communion
The service was also marked by the celebration of Holy Communion, a significant moment symbolizing unity among believers and collective thanksgiving for the blessings bestowed upon the Congolese nation.
Attendance of Senior Political Figures
Several high-level political figures attended the event, including Augustin Kabuya, Secretary General of the ruling UDPS, and Deputy Prime Minister Eliezer Tambwe. Their presence underscored the growing interaction between public authorities and religious institutions in promoting peace and national cohesion.
Faith, Diplomacy, and the Future of the DRC
Through this thanksgiving service, the EPLM reaffirmed its commitment to providing spiritual support to national policy orientations, stressing that faith remains a vital pillar during pivotal moments in the country’s history.
This event represents a symbolic convergence of faith, diplomacy, and national hope, as the Democratic Republic of the Congo looks toward a more stable and prosperous future.
