Israel says US–Iran ceasefire deal does not include Lebanon

Israel stated on Wednesday that the ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran does not include Lebanon, contradicting earlier remarks by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is acting as a mediator in the crisis.

Israel denies Lebanon’s inclusion

Israeli officials clarified that the temporary de-escalation deal between Washington and Tehran does not extend to Lebanese territory, a key point as regional tensions remain high.

This directly contradicts statements made by Shehbaz Sharif, who suggested that Lebanon could be part of the ceasefire framework.

A fragile ceasefire under international pressure

U.S. President Donald Trump has agreed to delay any potential military strike on Iran for two weeks, allowing room for diplomacy.

According to Donald Trump, China played a significant role in bringing Iran to the negotiating table, helping to secure this temporary ceasefire.

 Talks scheduled in Islamabad

Further negotiations are set to begin on Friday in Islamabad, where international stakeholders are expected to continue discussions aimed at stabilizing the situation.

Pakistan, led by Shehbaz Sharif, is playing a central mediating role in the ongoing diplomatic efforts.

 A region still on edge

Despite this diplomatic step, the situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile. The exclusion of Lebanon from the agreement could leave room for continued tensions in the region.

The upcoming talks will be crucial in determining whether this temporary ceasefire can evolve into a lasting peace or if the region risks another escalation.
