Following the directives of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka on the dissemination of the resolutions adopted by the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) and the African Civil Society recognizing the genocides committed in the DRC, the Minister of Human Rights, Samuel MBEMBA KABUYA, visited the national headquarters of the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
His mission was to present and hand over to the Legal Representative and President of this religious body, Reverend Dr. André-Gédéon BOKONDOA, the two aforementioned resolutions.
For nearly an hour, the two leaders discussed this major breakthrough in the fight for international recognition of the Congolese genocides committed by Rwanda for more than three decades.
After the meeting, Minister Samuel MBEMBA KABUYA addressed the matter in detail.
“I had requested this appointment with Reverend Dr. Bokundoa, the National President of the Church of Christ in Congo. The audience took place today so that I could hand over the two resolutions recognizing the Congolese genocides at the international level.
It was my duty to come to the father of the Church and deliver these two resolutions to him, in accordance with the instructions of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Judith Suminwa Tuluka, who asked that they be made known to all Congolese people,” he said, before adding:
“This is the first achievement in the struggle initiated by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, for the recognition of the genocide our country has suffered. It is a collective effort one the Church had already begun and we, in line with the will of the Head of State who appointed us, have joined this fight.”
Furthermore, Minister Samuel MBEMBA KABUYA praised the contribution of First Lady Denise Nyakeru in this national effort and called upon the President of the ECC to widely disseminate the resolutions.
“We are also working with CIA-VAR and FONAREV, along with the support of the First Lady, who is deeply involved in the process of reparations for victims. I thank Reverend Dr. Bokundoa, President of the Revival Churches in Congo, for this audience. I kindly ask him to ensure that all churches within the ECC are informed about these two resolutions so that our entire population can take ownership of them,” he concluded.
This nationwide campaign to promote the fight for recognition of the Congolese genocides and to disseminate the resolutions already adopted will undeniably reach every segment of the Congolese population. The unwavering determination of Minister Samuel MBEMBA KABUYA has become the driving force behind this mission.
