LOSC Lille suffered a frustrating defeat on Thursday, December 11, in the Europa League, losing 1–0 to Young Boys. Despite starting the match, Chancel Mbemba and Ngal’ayel Mukau were unable to stop the Swiss side, known for their solidity and European experience.

The Dogues tried to impose their rhythm and dominate the game, but their finishing fell short. Young Boys, more accurate and better organized, opened the scoring on one of their rare opportunities, confirming once again why they remain multiple-time Swiss champions.

Mbemba, visibly disappointed, expressed his frustration after the match:
“We started well and imposed our game, but the red card completely broke our momentum. It’s a painful loss.”

Looking Ahead

Despite this setback, Lille remains focused on the remainder of the competition.
“We did everything we could to equalize, but it just didn’t work. It’s frustrating, but we’ll keep our heads up. We’ll continue working—there are still two Europa League matches left,” added the defender.

With 10 points in the provisional standings, Lille currently sits in 20th place and is heading toward the playoffs if things don’t improve before the end of the group stage. The objective now is to bounce back quickly and secure qualification.
