In its statement, the DRC expressed deep concern over the evolving political, security, and institutional situation in Venezuela, warning of the risks this crisis poses to the country’s stability and to the wider region.
Alignment with the African Union’s Position
The three African non-permanent members of the Security Council reaffirmed their alignment with the position of the African Union, emphasizing core principles that guide their diplomatic engagement. These include respect for state sovereignty, constitutional order, and international law.
The A3 Group stressed the importance of avoiding any escalation that could further aggravate tensions and increase the suffering of the Venezuelan people.
Call for a Peaceful and Sustainable Solution
In their declaration, the DRC, Liberia, and Somalia called for a peaceful and sustainable solution, one that must be led and owned by the Venezuelan people themselves. They also urged the international community to provide constructive support, prioritizing dialogue, mediation, and peaceful means of conflict resolution.

Through this position, the DRC reaffirmed its commitment within the Security Council to advancing a responsible African voice, dedicated to peace, international stability, and the peaceful settlement of disputes, in line with the principles of the UN Charter.
