The Israeli army announced on Thursday afternoon, December 4, 2025, that it is preparing to launch strikes in southern Lebanon against what it describes as infrastructure belonging to the Islamist movement Hezbollah.

In a statement addressed notably to the Arabic-speaking public, Israel also urged civilians in two villages to carry out immediate evacuations.

Imminent Strikes Announced

According to Colonel Avichay Adraee, spokesperson for the Israeli army for the Arabic-speaking audience, Israeli forces will “soon attack Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure across southern Lebanon to counter its illegal attempts to restore its activities in the region.”

This announcement comes amid ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, marked by repeated exchanges of fire along the border in recent months.

Evacuation Warning in Two Villages

In an “urgent message” issued in Arabic, Colonel Adraee presented maps identifying two buildings located in the villages of Jbaa and Mahrouna.
He urged residents to move at least 300 meters away, specifying that these areas would be targeted in the upcoming strikes.

This unusual evacuation warning is intended, according to the Israeli army, to limit civilian casualties in a densely populated region where Hezbollah is accused of operating near residential areas.

Risk of Regional Escalation

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah an ally of Iran continue to fuel fears of a broader regional escalation, as clashes and aerial overflights have intensified in recent weeks.
Lebanese authorities had not yet issued an official reaction at the time of the announcement, while residents in southern Lebanon reported a growing climate of concern.
