Uganda’s political scene has been shaken following reports that outgoing Speaker Anita Among’s residence in Nakasero was raided by security personnel in the early hours of the morning.

According to witnesses, dozens of security officers reportedly stormed the residence around 3:00am, climbing over the perimeter wall before carrying out extensive searches. The operation is said to have caught the guards at the property completely off guard.
The development comes days after President Yoweri Museveni reportedly granted Anita Among an audience and temporary protection until the weekend. Sources claim the security operation was aimed at investigating the source of her wealth and examining financial-related allegations.
Witnesses at the scene described a tense atmosphere as heavily armed personnel entered the compound and conducted searches throughout the property. Authorities have not yet released an official statement detailing what was recovered or whether any arrests were made during the operation.
Anita Among, one of Uganda’s most prominent political figures, has recently faced increasing public scrutiny over corruption allegations and questions surrounding her assets.
The reported raid has intensified debate within political circles and among the public.
Political analysts say the incident could have significant implications for Uganda’s political landscape, especially within the ruling establishment, where tensions and internal power struggles have increasingly become visible.
More details are expected as investigations continue and officials provide further clarification on the operation.
